Enterprise Applications

Enterprise Applications

Enterprise software, also known as enterprise application software (EAS), is computer software used to satisfy the needs of an organization rather than individual users. Such organizations would include businesses, schools, interest-based user groups, clubs, charities, or governments.
In this context the term enterprise is more often meant to mean all encompassing, across business units or geographies, the whole of our business operations. Just because we say something is enterprise level that does not mean that it applies to the entire company.
An enterprise application (EA) is a large software system platform designed to operate in a corporate environment such as business or government. EAs are complex, scalable, component-based, distributed and mission critical.

You can transform your business to a revenue-producing asset that lets you work as much or as little as you want.

ories of enterprise software may overlap due to this systemic interpretation. For example, IBM’s Business Intelligence platform , integrates with a predictive analytics platform and can obtain records from its database packages (Infosphere, DB2). Blurred lines between package functions make delimitation difficult, and in many ways larger software companies define these somewhat arbitrary categories.  Nevertheless, certain industry standard product categories have emerged, and these are shown below :

  • Accounting Software
  • Business Intelligence
  • Business Process Management
  • Content Management System  (CMS)
  • Customer Relationship Management  (CRM)
  • Database Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM)

An enterprise application is the phrase used to describe applications (or software) that a business would use to assist the organization in solving enterprise problems. When the word “Enterprise” is combined with “Application” it usually refers to a Software platform that is too large and too complex for individual or Small Business use.

Enterprise computing is a buzzword that refers to business-oriented information technology that is critical to a company’s operations. Enterprise computing encompasses all the various types of enterprise software, including database management, relationship management and so on. Enterprise computing is usually seen as a collection of big business software solutions to common problems such as resource management and streamlining processes.

Enterprise computing is sometimes sold to business users as an entire platform that can be applied broadly across an organization and then further customized by users within each area. This means the analytics, reporting, database management and other applications are standard across the system, while the application packages being used and the data being accessed in each area will be different. In this sense, enterprise computing is a departure from finding single software solutions to specific business problems, such as inventory or accounting software. Instead, enterprise computing is intended to offer integrated solutions to these problems.
